THE HAPPIEST DAYS OF YOUR LIFE © 1950 The Happiest Days Of Your Life is a precursor to the hugely successful St. Trinian’s series. Nutbourn College, the most established and respectable of boys’ schools, is run by unyielding Headmaster Wetherby Pond (Alastair Sim). When a military mistake billets a girls’ school to share the college’s premises due to wartime restrictions, he is outraged. However, he soon discovers he has met his match when he encounters the headmistress of the girls’ school in question, the formidable Muriel Whitchurch (Margaret Rutherford). Initially the two are hostile to one another, but with a staff of dazed, eccentric teachers and a student body whose mischief knows no bounds, they are forced to pull together. Then, just when they thought the situation couldn’t get any more complicated, they discover they are faced with two troublesome visits on the same day; one from a group of parents, who must believe the school is only for girls, and one from the Ministry, who must be presented with an all boys establishment! Unmissable and hilarious, this is classic British comedy at its best. Please be fair and share by helping to seed this thank you
Thanks for putting all these wonderful Alastair Sim movies up, much appreciated :-)
Your very welcome. I've got a few more coming in shortly. I'm actually buying these in, have meant to do this for years. Happy to share
Thank you so much -- I'm old enough to remember this movie when it was originally released. BTW, have you seen the new updated St. Trinian's movie that was released a couple of years ago?
No I haven't seen it yet but do have it. I doubt it can compare to the originals though. You just don't get the same type of character actors these days. However I do like Colin Firth and believe him to be very capable but still incomparable to the likes of Alastair Sim. Thank you for your comments
What am I talking about it's Rupert Everett playing Miss Fritton doh! ah well like I said I haven't seen it yet
Thanks for your comments on mine. The new St Trinian's is very up-to-date, but still manages to retain some of the original craziness. Rupert Everett is actually rather good as the headmistress. I believe there is a sequel that's just been made, maybe not yet released in the UK.
I'm impressed with the quality of this movie. Was it ripped from a DVD?
Indeed it was. I just got in the post yesterday though I'd seen the movie many times before
Watched it last night -- it's really very good -- thank you again.
These "oldies" are great, Thank you! They bring back a lot of good memories.
Thanks again for all the great golden oldies, will seed
This goes out of sync. If this bothers you, forget this.
